​In my Master's thesis, I looked at the topic of trim trails and outdoor fitness parkour’s in Cologne. I developed an outdoor rowing machine that runs on real water. It reminds of the actual water sport experience by abstractly imitating the bow waves of the boat and real water resistance through the paddles. The water that is displaced out of the water basin behind the boat by the oars is guided across the surface of the base. The water is used as a resistance, an immediate response to the movement which has been done and as an indicator to display the amount of power that has been performed throughout the movement.  The image and sound created by the real water flow, also has a meditative component. This rowing machine brings a rowing experience to a park without water bodies and makes the experience available for everyone.
