Inspired by the seat arrangement and given surroundings in a tour bus and the idea of creating a small universe for two people.

This project was an approach to communicate the importance of specific situation through an object. 

On a long bus journey from Cologne to Paris, I had a conversation with someone who meant a great deal to me. We talked about the future and the nature of our relationship. The conversation ended with us agreeing not to see each other anymore. It was the emotional climax of a short, turbulent journey. I wanted to create an object that captured that moment and yet kept a door open to relive it despite our agreement. There are objects that are created for a very specific situation, yet can be freely interpreted by outsiders. I associate this story with this object, and once it was finished, I realised that whilst the story was its origin, its scope of use is much broader. Nowadays, I see it as a lovely reading chair for two, which creates a little space of light when everything around it is dark.

I really like how sincerely I cared when I designed this. It think it is always important to try to genuinely care when designing.
